DOUBLE BILL!!

Been on the run a lot lately with my photography and people have been asking so what's going on with your poetry RAS!! I think that's what inspired me to add the Arouka story to the Bejewelled Temptress SHOOT. But having said that, there's a LOT MORE GOING ON!!!

And here is a DOUBLE BILL FOR YOU!!

First on Monday 24th MAY, 2010
Script This... presents: YOU DESERVE BETTER

A rehearsed reading of love poems, love songs, monologues, duologues and essays.

Are you looking for love? Do you believe in love anymore? Have you already settled for less than you deserve? Do you read those self help books or do you write your own Rules?

Are you waiting for good fashioned romance to find you or are you cyber surfing for a soul mate? Have you already planned out you wedding or civil partnership or is commitment for the insecure?

A rehearsed reading by Dean Atta & Deanna Rodger

Words & music by Adrian Jonathan, Anita Govan, Christopher Donshale Sims, Deborah Stevenson, Geoffrey Williams, Martina Curtin, Oliver Brown, Peter Pen, Rachel Drazek,
RASCONRAD, RedNPink, Roberto Martins, Shauna O’Briain, Sophie Evans, Tian Glasgow & Zayna Daze.

That's right a couple of my pieces of poetry are gonna be performed by another 'voice'. It's a wonderful experience for a poet to think someone values his work enough to have it re-read in their OWN voice. so I'm very excited that DEAN and his team have invited me along to be a prt of this and to see my work through another person's eyes.

And secondly on Tueday 25th MAY, 2010
biggerthanME productions presents, Pattie-shop Diaries: A Showcase of an original musical-theatre piece.

'An everyday story of love, family, identity, gossip, redemption and burnt rice-and-peas’.

This is a free event. the journey continues.

I felt truly honoured to be on this journey together with the writers and creators of this musical piece Michael Scott-Harding and Gerrard Martin. And it's gonna be great to see and hear the full musical in all it's glory. I've listened to the soundtrack and it is WICKED!!

SO MUCH TO DO AND SAY

Well it's certainly been a hectic few days ands it's calmed down a bit now that it's monday. But i look back over the last week and all i can think is WHEW!! There's been some really great high one in particular being "a fly on the wall" with fellow reportage photographer Dalila El-Arabi for LYRIC LOUNGE.
Dean Atta and Deanna Rodger host an eclectic blend of soulful vocalists, sizzling new bands, poetry, dance and comedy as the Studio at Lyric Hammersmith is transformed into the LYRIC LOUNGE.

With the stage set these talented youth all under the age of 25 rocked the house with soulful lyrics, exuberant energy and a sense of purpose unrivalled by many in their fields. And not just the booked acts either, under 20 poets grand slammed their way to a victory worthy of any Wimbledon Tournament. It's no wonder so many left the event not only with the high that comes from being truely and thoroughly entertained but with the distinct impression that they were seeing the stars of tomorrow, EMERGENT TODAY! More pics of the perfomers coming soon....

da POET...

With Poetry on the Horizon at
POETRY AND PIMMS,

my own POET page has been revamped.

Check it out.

We are the demon seekers.

We are the hooded ones; cloaked in robes of words and phrases;

Illiteration and prose.

That travel the underbelly of this cold, lonely world in search of redemption.

Seeking out the procrastinators of faith; feeding the frenzy of the damned.

We are the ones who bring light to the masses…,

We are the poets…..

WHAT AN OPENING!!

Okay it was MORE THAN I COULD'VE EVER HOPED FOR.

But before that lets first talk about how three (3) of my pieces were censored from the exhibit and asked to be removed off the walls. The reason behind it..., because we were in a CRYPT (below a church) and as such we needed to have some boundaries as towards what could and could not be shown. The three images in question are shown here and were entitled:

Ah Sweetness Tek Meh (model Becks)
J'Ouvert 1 - INDULGENCE (model Marlon)
and I Stand Judged (model earl)

But even though i couldn't have them on the walls, LOL I KEPT THEM BEHIND
MY DISPLAY CASE AND SHOWED THEM TO EVERY ONE THAT ENTERED MY SPACE. LOL.

Resulting in one of them being eventually taken by a close friend. (Thanks F)
and the other being taken as part of a set of "10" by a collector. Yippee!!

As for the guest, my peeps did me proud. "Family" came out in droves. The Manor Park Crew were there. Hey hey, my boy Andrew Spark (photographer extraodinaire) came down.
There were people there from the TATE MODERN MUSEUM, (like WOW!) as well as my sponsors from "Connection Software".

Denise was front and centre (thanks hon) as were models Zim Lelo and a new male model I was introduced to and WILL be working with, TYSON. (no not Beckford, though he is just a gorgeous). He came along with poet/ playwright Dean Atta and his crew. And speaking of writers, The Pattie Shop Diaries boys were there as well. Also Journalist Franka Phillip and stylist Frank Akinsete. Just to name a few. All came out to support a brother and i thank you ALL.
Pics will follow. courtesy Andrew Spark
